Why We Use FSC-Approved Paper

Half Tone

roll of fsc approved paper

At Lanes Printers, we use FSC-approved paper for all our printing needs. Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a global, non-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of responsible forest management worldwide. FSC products help to ensure the world’s forests are kept alive and well for many more years to come.

Paper is based on wood, of which is a natural and renewable material. As trees grow, they absorb CO2 from the atmosphere, and paper continues to store carbon throughout its lifetime. In fact, paper is one of the few truly sustainable products available.

FSC run a global forest certification system with two key components; forest management and chain of custody certification. This allows customers to identify, purchase and use wood, paper and other forest produced products that have come from well-managed forests and recycled materials.

Paper is one of the most recycled products in the world and rarely is it wasted. In fact, in Europe alone, around 2 tonnes of paper were being recycled every single second. Whilst it cannot be recycled indefinitely, due to its fibres becoming too short and worn, it can be recycled around 7 times on average.

As paper is so uniquely renewable and sustainable, trees are grown and harvested in a carefully controlled way. This has led to European forests growing in size by over 1,500 football pitches- every day!

However, that isn’t all. FSC-approved paper is of extremely high standards and makes the perfect base for our range of printing products.
